About PWN
PWN supplies drinking water to more than 804,160 households, companies and institutions in the province of Noord-Holland. Their 1.7 million customers use around 112 billion liters of drinking water annually. They purify surface water into drinking water, in Andijk, Heemskerk and in the dune area. The North Holland dunes are indispensable in the drinking water supply. As a dune manager, PWN ensures that the dunes remain healthy and that they are careful with the wealth of flora and fauna in the dunes. 45% of all the water from PWN is purified in the North Holland dunes. In addition, the dunes serve as a reserve source.
History of PWN
PWN was founded in 1920. Although they still provide drinking water and manage dunes today, a lot has changed over the years. Did you know that Heiloo was the first municipality in North Holland to be connected to the mains network on 20 July 1920? And that the 200,000th connection was realized in 1965? And that there will be almost 780,000 in 2015?
