About

Overview

Rabobank is a cooperative bank. There are almost ninety local Rabobanks in the Netherlands, which each operate with a high degree of independence so they can better serve their customers and local communities. Rabobank also has sizeable international banking operations. They focus on international business and rural activities in general and on the Food and Agri sector in particular.

What characterizes Rabobank?
Together with their stakeholders, they have been dedicated to creating a future-proof society and tackling major societal challenges for 125 years. In the Netherlands, they serve retail and corporate clients, and worldwide they focus on the food and agricultural sector. But no matter where they are, their guiding principle is the same: together they can achieve more than they could individually.

It started with inventive farmers: what they could not do on their own, they were able to achieve together. This farmers’ cooperative turned into a bank, which today is embedded in society thanks to its members.

They now operate in 38 countries, with over 43,000 employees. In the Netherlands, they serve retail and corporate clients with a wide range of financial products and services. Across the world, they focus on entrepreneurs and companies in the food and agriculture sector.

Growing a better world together
They are involved in what is going on in society. They contribute to strengthening their shared living environment and making it future-proof – so that people can make the choices that matter most to them, both now and in the future. That is what their mission, “Growing a  better world together,” represents: making the way in which they live and work more sustainable. To do that, they focus on three major global transitions: the food transition,  the climate and energy transition and the transition to a more inclusive society.

Their focus
Rabobank is more than just a bank. First of all, they are a cooperative – that is what sets them apart from other banks. Their cooperative banking allows them to exert a more positive influence on people and society. This comes in useful, as major challenges such as climate change and growing financial and other inequalities shape the world in which they live. With their partners and members, Rabobank wants to contribute to positive change and promotes a more sustainable, inclusive society in which everyone can pursue their ambitions.

Together with clients and members – using their products, knowledge and networks – they work towards creating a better world for future generations. They do this with their banking services, by going the extra mile and through social initiatives. In doing so, they focus on the key transitions and current themes in our markets and society.
