The Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children in Australia (now Redkite) was a non profit agency founded in New South Wales in August 1983. It was then established in Queensland, Western Australia and Victoria. The organisation was inspired by renowned conductor, pianist and organist, Sir Malcolm Sargent (pictured).

In its early years, The Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children in Australia primarily provided financial grants and practical assistance to families who had children with cancer. To meet the needs of children and families, new services were later introduced. These include the provision of social workers and music therapists in hospitals, scholarships and education grants, bereavement support, family days and community support services such as email and phone counselling.

In 2005 The Malcolm Sargent Cancer Fund for Children in Australia in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia merged. They were joined by Victoria in 2007 to become a single organisation under the name Redkite.

Redkite is governed by a passionate, professional and committed Board of Directors who ensure the highest level of ethics, compliance and governance of Redkite.

The Board reflects the Redkite values and works continuously to ensure honesty, full transparency and accountability at all times. Redkite’s Board do not receive any fees and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise from a range of business and commercial sectors.
