The Refugee Consortium of Kenya (RCK) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 1998 to respond to an increasingly complex and deteriorating refugee situation in Kenya, the Great Lakes, and the Horn of African Region. The organization’s purpose has evolved over time since its establishment but has remained relevant for the displaced and host populations.
Since 1998, the organization has influenced government, partners, and donors to invest in changing social attitudes and norms, policies, laws, and public opinion with the aim of protecting and promoting the well-being, voice, and dignity of displaced and host populations.
They aim at attaining their mission through strategic programmatic pillars of legal aid and governance; peace and social justice; women and girls’ empowerment; mental health and psychosocial support; and organization development. They have also invested in delivery pathways with wide-range strategic approaches including advocacy and thought leadership; innovation and learning; capacity building and support; partnerships and localization; and strategic communication to realize our overall organizational goal.
They believe that their success is attributed to good leadership by the board and management, coordination, partnerships with the Government at all levels, established systems, and trust by the displaced and host populations.
STRATEGIC GOAL
To promote a safe environment where the displaced and host populations access justice and protection, and are empowered to achieve their full potential.
They call on governments, civil societies (including Refugee-led organizations, the displaced and host populations), the private sector, academia, and the international community to work with them to create systemic and social change that recognizes the displaced and host populations’ needs, rights, and potential. Equally, together with their partners, they act when and where it’s needed most to ensure the well-being, dignity, and voice of the displaced and host populations. They aim at influencing decisions and actions for positive change.
VISION
A just and inclusive society for all the displaced and host populations.
MISSION
To protect and promote the well-being, voice, and dignity of the displaced and host populations.
