Created by law n ° 2012-018 on electronic communications (LCE) of December 17, 2012 amended by law n ° 2013-003 of February 19, 2019 to regulate the electronic communications and postal markets in a context of modernity and technological development, ARCEP must assume several missions, the most important of which are:

  1. Management and control of operators authorized by the Government to establish and operate networks and services open to the public
  2. Licensing of independent networks - terminal equipment approvals and installers approvals - Certificate of registration for value-added service providers
  3. Resource management
  4. Delegated authority for electronic certification
  5. Protection of consumer interests
  6. State representation and international cooperation
