Renewables Hub is an independent, renewable energy organization, founded in Kenya in 2010. They currently have operations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.
They are are a small team of enthusiastic engineers and project managers with a vision of making renewable energy in Africa a reality, particularly when it comes to marginal communities without access to electricity.
The aim of the Hub is to advance useful knowledge of the region and its potential in renewables. From consultancy works and development appraisals, to mentor-ship programmes for youth with an aim to cultivate innovative solutions to the energy crisis on the continent.
They are working with several energy producers and organisations in the region to develop and implement long-term programmes that combine research with public information and policy implementation.
What They Do
Off grid green energy – They identify, design and develop cost-effective options to provide energy to remote or rural locations which are off the grid. Options include wind turbines, solar, micro-hydro and biogas facilities.
Renewable energy research and development – They research and develop sources of green energy, one of their core values being innovation. They focus on wind, solar and agromass for generation of electricity, heat and also for providing energy for cooking.
Energy Audits and Energy Management – They identify the cost-effective options to improve the energy efficiency on all facilities using industry standards
