About

The Research Communications Group (RCG) provides quality technical assistance to low income and transitional countries. We work primarily in responsible infrastructure, social protection and health communications. Our core competencies include communications for social change, strategic planning, community mobilisation, operational research and evaluation. Underlying all these areas is capacity building. Since its inception in December 2007, RCG has undertaken assignments in Northern and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Caucasus, China, Central Asia, South and Southeast Asia, Melanesia and East Africa.

Clients have included ADB, World Bank, American Red Cross (ARC), UNDP, Danish Red Cross, UNICEF, WHO, Oxfam, World Vision, UNIFEM, NZAID, gTKP/WSP, PSI, NZ Council for International Development (CID), and the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC). RCG prides itself on high quality. All of the aforementioned clients have offered RCG follow-up work. RCG is a not-for-profit organisation.

OUR WORK

Health Communications

Our areas of expertise include: HIV/AIDS, health sector reform, reproductive health, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), malaria and safe water promotion, tuberculosis control, immunisation promotion, and maternal and child health care.

RCG staff and principal associates have experience in communications for social change and behaviour change, population segmentation and profiling, community mobilisation, social marketing and communications research. We possess in-depth knowledge of communication strategy development, behaviour change communications (BCC), IEC and awareness campaign development, and communications M&E.

Social Protection

Social protection programmes are designed to reduce poverty and vulnerability by increasing access to opportunities, providing assistance for those in difficult circumstances and enhancing the capacity of communities and individuals to protect themselves against hazards and loss of livelihood.

RCG's primary area of focus under social protection is human trafficking. Our experience and expertise in this field spans the full range of responses from policy development to criminal justice, from victim identification and support through to prevention activities.

Responsible Infrastructure

RCG offers a combination of technical, economic and social expertise to provide advice on how best to capitalise on opportunities generated by infrastructural development and mitigate any potentially negative aspects.

As well as working on HIV and trafficking prevention in the infrastructure context, we are currently drawing on our experiences in Central & SE Asia, and in the Balkans, to build vulnerability matrices that will contribute to improved health and social accountability in the development infrastructure field.

The RCG Training and Professional Development Unit

RCG recently established a dedicated Training and Professional Development Unit in order to better enable us to meet demand for tailored professional development services and provide specialised support for capacity building activities. The Unit provides services to organisations and groups in low income and transitional states, as well as within Scandinavia.
