Rivas Opstaele SA was founded in 1947 by brothers Carlos and Roberto Rivas Opstaele.
The brothers started the business with the commercialization of kerosene refrigerators of the Swedish brand Electrolux, shortly after they ventured into photographic products of the German brand Agfa.
Agfa's alliance with the Belgian company Gevaert has provided Rivas Opstale with a broader portfolio of products, such as x-rays, microfilms, and graphic arts. From its location in the heart of the Nicaraguan capital, on the old Roosevelt Avenue, in the Knoeplffer building, the C. and R. Rivas Opstaele Warehouse was conquering the market for photographic film and development.
During the war years, the company survived thanks to the efforts of the employees who remained at the helm. Later, in the 1990s, the company was given a strong boost. The major changes introduced by digital photography caused the paper photography business to lose steam, and Rivas Opstaele grew hand in hand with Agfa medical equipment products. In that decade, the representation of other prestigious brands was introduced, such as the Dutch Philips, Tyco Healthcare which later became Covidien and was later acquired by Medtronic. Currently, Rivas Opstaele SA also offers products from other important brands such as Guerbet, Pentax and Edwards Lifesciences.
They remain committed to their customers to provide them with the service and quality that ensure the health and quality of life of thousands of people who use their products daily.
