AGEROUTE Senegal is generally responsible for the implementation of all construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of roads, bridges and other engineering structures as well as the management of the classified road network.

Specifically, AGEROUTE Senegal is responsible for:

• the management of road projects and works;
• to propose to the Minister in charge of roads orientations in the road sector;
• to set up and manage a road data bank, in collaboration with the road services of the Ministry;
• draw up the three-year public investment program (PTIP) in the field of road works (maintenance, rehabilitation and new works) to be updated annually;
• draw up an annual road maintenance program (PERA);
• to propose any financing strategy for the maintenance and development of the road sector;
• to ensure the management of the right-of-way of the roads of the classified network and to ensure by all means the preservation of the road heritage;
• conduct technical studies, including feasibility studies for all road projects;
• prepare funding research files for road infrastructure projects;
• to take all necessary measures to safeguard the environment within the framework of the works;
• advising and supporting local authorities in the implementation of road projects;
• to contribute to the accomplishment of any mission of a public nature in the road sector;
• to formulate opinions on matters relating to roads.

In addition, AGEROUTE Senegal is responsible, except for derogation, on behalf of the Minister in charge of roads, of the delegated project management of road projects, within the framework of specific financing agreements that may bind the State to donors. funds. In this case, it acts as an executing agency of the Ministry in charge of roads

The Agency representing the ministry in charge of roads, is the only competent authority to issue authorizations for the laying and removal of pipes or occupation of the right-of-way of classified roads.

All public contracting authorities are required to obtain the opinion of the ministry in charge of roads represented by AGEROUTE Senegal before issuing any building permit.

Any occupation of the right-of-way of classified roads must first receive the opinion of AGEROUTE Senegal.

AGEROUTE Senegal also intervenes on behalf of the Minister in charge of Roads in the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of all the rest of the national network. If necessary, an implementation agreement can be signed with the beneficiary public authorities.
