Mission

Building the rubber industry together through efficient management of smallholder sectors, increasing commercial production and diversifying downstream industries that can compete in the global market.

Objective

1. Establish a sustainable and sustainable source of income for farmers who practice low-income agriculture, poor and hardcore poor.
2. Increase productivity and income for smallholders of rubber.
3. Enhance the process of transferring new technologies to rubber smallholders.
4. Provide rubber processing and marketing facilities for smallholders of rubber.
5. Encouraging the growth of the downstream industry based on rubber and rubber timber.
6. Have farmers who are farming farms move away or those who do not own land to the rubber settlement scheme.
7. Improve delivery system.

Strategy

1. Old Rubber Crop with a Late Latex Clone.
2. New Rubber Crops with a Late Latex Clone.
3. Old Rubber Crop with Other Crops.
4. Development of a rubber placement scheme.
5. Smallholder Training.
6. Direct Rubber Purchase Control.
7. Smallholder rubber processing to Standard Malaysian Rubber (SMR) and Specialty Rubber.
8. SMR rubber marketing.
9. The establishment of a downstream industry based on rubber.

Background and History

The Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS) was established under the Rubber Board Board Ordinance 1950 (Cap 16), which was repealed and replaced by the Rubber Board Board Enactment 1981 25.

LIGS is a statutory body of the State Government of Sabah under the  Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry at the State level, and under the Ministry of Primary Industries at the Federal level. It is a government agency responsible for the development of the rubber plantation sector in Sabah, as well as promoting and promoting rubber plantation development activities for smallholders in Sabah and the growth of the downstream rubber-based industry.
