San Francisco Aid for Animals was founded in 2011 by four San Francisco veterinarians who became alarmed by the number of pets being euthanized or surrendered because many owners could not afford to pay for their pet’s veterinary care.
In response to this need, they began raising money through donations and in 2012 began providing grants to San Francisco area veterinarians to help pet guardians pay for their pet’s urgent, treatable medical conditions.
Since 2012 they have distributed over $175K in funds to pay for over $325K in veterinary bills and helped save over 125 pets who were otherwise facing euthanasia or surrender.
San Francisco Aid for Animals is an all-volunteer organization and is a fiscally sponsored project of Community Initiatives a 501(C) (3) not for profit organization in San Francisco.
