Saphymo's administrative, sales and project departments, plus part of the R&D department, are located at the head office in Montigny-Le-Bretonneux, France. The company has two production units in Thiron-Gardais and Montbonnot, plus an office in Bègles, and employs 130 staff.
Saphymo also has 2 subsidiaries in Germany and Italy :
- Saphymo GmbH in Frankfurt
- Saphymo Italia in Genoa
Saphymo’s story dates back over half a century. Originally an industry representative, the company developed progressively over the decades through internal growth and acquisitions, to become today's major player in its various core businesses.
From the beginning:
- 1952 : Formation of BEFIC (Design Office-Manufacture -Test Instruments). Industry representative for German companies, including KK&K, now Siemens Turbo Machinery (Co)
- 1965 : BEFIC developps radiation measurement and takes part in forming the company AUTOMESS GmbH
- 1980 : BEFIC buys out PHYSIOTECHNIE, one of the world’s four pen dosimeter manufacturers
- 1985 : Acquisition of SAPHYMO-STEL’s Radiation Measurement department, a subsidiary of THOMSON, and formation of SAPHYMO-PHY
- 1989 : Production unit inaugurated in Thiron-Gardais (France), featuring a calibration center
- 1997 : SAPHYMO-PHY company name changed to SAPHYMO
- 1999 : Formation of SAPHYMO-ITALIA
- 2001 : Creation of a Transport Telematics department
- 2002 : Acquisition of NOVELEC (France) and GENITRON (Germany)
- 2006 : Merger between SAPHYMO and NOVELEC
- 2008 : The German subsidiary GENITRON becomes SAPHYMO GmbH
- July 2008 : SAPHYMO transferred to a new investment group, comprising ACE management, Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners, various Saphymo executive managers, and one of the founding shareholders.
- 2011 : Extension of the production facility in Thiron-Gardais
- 2015: The takeover of Saphymo by Bertin Technologies (CNIM group)
