Save the Children is a child rights organization that works to ensure that all children have their rights respected and their business is based on the CRC.
They are politically and religiously independent.
They work for children who find it hardest. Children exposed to violence and abuse, do not go to school, lack support from parents and other adults, living in poverty or in war and disasters.
They are fighting for all children to have a safe and healthy childhood, to be able to make their voices heard and thus have influence over the situation. No child should be exposed to violence, abuse or discrimination.
They work both in Sweden and internationally. In Sweden, contributing members of their local businesses with everything from homework and collection to the local board work and political influence.
Around the world, they work on long-term programs for vulnerable children will have a better future. In emergency and war situations, they go in with emergency life-saving interventions, while also working there long term.
There are over 2 billion children in the world. The living conditions of these children differ markedly. Vulnerable children are both in the poorest countries in the world in countries which in many ways are safe and good to grow up in. In Sweden live such a frightening large number of children in poverty.
In recent years, many changes for the better occurred, changes that they have been involved and helped. For example, the mortality rate among children under five decreased and the number of children attending school has increased.
But much remains, and they will continue the fight to children around the world and here at home in Sweden to have their rights respected.
To get lasting results, they are working on several different levels.
They collect facts, listening to the children themselves and analyze their situation and conditions. They provide support directly to the children.
They share their knowledge and experience on to those with influence over children's living conditions. And they awaken public opinion and influence decision-makers - from municipalities to the UN - the realization of children's rights.
