Schneider Centroamérica Ltda., Was founded in San José, Costa Rica, under the name of Square D Centroamericana SA in 1976, with the mission of becoming the electrical equipment production plant that supplies the Central American market, responding to its Head office located in the United States. Square D Company is a US company dedicated to designing, manufacturing and marketing of industrial and residential electrical equipment which was founded in 1902.

In 1991, Square D Company was acquired by Groupe Schneider (now Schneider Electric), French corporation founded in 1836, and became part of the group with three other leading brands in the world, Merlin Gerin, Modicon and Telemecanique. In this year, it changed its name to Schneider Centroamérica Ltda., Becoming a subsidiary of one of the largest electrical products manufacturing companies in the world.

The main activities of Schneider Centroamérica Ltda. Are to provide solutions that involve products and services in the fields of low and medium voltage electrical distribution, industrial control and automation for the Central American market. The Costa Rican plant assembles different products such as: cargo centers, pump and starter controls, special control cabinets, distribution boards, power transfers, capacitor banks, medium voltage switchgear and special panels (on request ).

We create strong commercial alliances with our channels: general distributors, specialized distributors, system integrators, electrical contractors, etc. These alliances guarantee the availability of our offer of products and services where required by the customer, qualified assistance and technical support. We have distributors with an uninterrupted relationship of more than 20 years.

As a result of projects such as: Caracol Knits, Aurola Holiday Inn, San Pedro Mall, Abbott Laboratories, Merck Sharp & Dohme and the Four Seasons Resort, a Project Management Department was created. Also, there is a Technical Service department, available 24 hours, to attend equipment installations, commissioning and maintenance contracts as well as emergencies.

The company has a Commercial Policy which establishes the direction of the marketing activities. Schneider Central America considers its dealer network as the cornerstone of the marketing process.

Schneider Centroamérica Ltda. Was the first Central American company in its field to obtain the certification of ISO-9001 revision 1994, now updated to revision 2000, so it has a Quality Manual describing the Quality.
