The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG), created by Decree No. 218-96, in accordance with the sectoral framework established in the Law of Modernization and Development of the Agricultural Sector and the Government Plan for the period 2002-2006, aims to ensure that national agricultural production is competitive, sustainable and capable of being inserted into the international economy, responding to the needs of the internal market and integrating into a scheme of human, social, environmental development, based on self-management, community participation, the gender equity approach and the sustainable management of natural resources. 

 

Mission: 
They are the governing institution of the state that formulates, coordinates, executes and evaluates the policies of the agri-food sector; to promote with public-private alliances, investment in agribusiness, export of agricultural, agro-industrial products, innovation and technological development and infrastructure improvement; generating the conditions for the development of the actors in the sector; contributing to improve food security and income of the Honduran population.

Vision:

To be the leading institution of the policies of the agri-food sector, which provides quality services in a competitive and efficient way, which contributes to increasing the food security of the Honduran population, satisfying national and international demand with quality goods and services, under a territorial approach scheme, productive chain, environmental sustainability, community participation and gender equity, thus promoting in coordination with the private sector, the generation of employment and the productive development of the country.
