The Secretary of State for Education and Sport - Seed is responsible for:
I - the promotion of the necessary conditions for the universalization of opportunities for access to schooling, guaranteeing the student also the successful permanence in school;
II - the survey of the universe of the population to be served by the State and Municipal Education Networks, in all segments of basic education and due modalities: regular, professional, special and youth and adults;
III - the collection, analysis and dissemination of educational data and information;
IV - the implementation of projects that promote the improvement of the quality of education, with a focus on measurable results in terms of learning;
V - the access of educators and students to technology applied to the improvement of teaching and learning;
VI - the elaboration and dissemination of guidelines, regulations, rules and instructions required for the functioning of the Network of Teaching Institutions of Basic Education;
VII - accreditation of teaching institutions and authorization to operate child education, elementary school, high school, youth and adult education, special education and professional education, in public and private networks;
VIII - technical assistance to professors and managers assigned to educational institutions in the state network;
IX - planning the use, construction, improvement, expansion, adaptation, conservation and reorganization of the physical network, comprising buildings, equipment and furniture;
X - the offer of support services, duly adapted to students with special educational needs;
XI - the planning, organization, follow-up and maintenance of the State Government's policies and guidelines for sports, leisure and quality of life.
