The National Groundwater, Irrigation and Drainage Service (Senara) was conceived, as an avant-garde institution, in the management of water resources and in strategic articulation with other institutions in the agricultural and environmental sectors.
Story
Senara was created with Law No. 6877, of July 18, 1983, through the merger of the Irrigation and Drainage Department of the National Electricity Service (SNE), the Irrigation and Drainage Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and the National Groundwater Service (SENAS). It is integrated into the agricultural sector and public sector organizations, responsible for research, development, credit, and marketing, for the establishment and operationalization of irrigation and drainage systems and hydro-agricultural projects .
