About

Shariket Kahraba wa Taket Moutadjadida, SKTM.spa, the Sonelgaz holding's electricity generation subsidiary, was born to answer two main issues, first of all, the best management of remote power plants in the south of the country, hence result in better quality and continuity of electricity supply for the benefit of households and the economic sector. On the other hand, and in the current context of widespread awareness of energy uncertainties and the need to fight against global warming, massive use of solar energy in all its forms, direct (photovoltaic, thermal) or indirect (wind, biomass) must become a priority, an obvious one.

In addition to the issues related to global warming, the depletion of traditional energy resources, oil, natural gas among others, requires the use of clean energy, and it is no longer a question of choice but much more a question of becoming energetic nations.

It must be said that Algeria, supported by the huge solar potential it enjoys, and the enormity of its geographical territory, has great chances to establish itself as a regional leader in the field of renewable energy.

It should be emphasized, without any pretense, that the supply of electricity in the southern regions of Algeria, has improved significantly after the advent of SKTM, which has been entrusted to isolated networks in the south. The efforts made by society have been underlined by the public authorities and the people of the south. The remarkable results of 2013 prompted the implementation of another action plan to install additional power on isolated networks, also for the year 2014, this is combined with a vast operation of maintenance of the existing means of production. .

In the field of renewable energy, aware of the stakes, Algeria has implemented an ambitious clean energy development program aimed at achieving a capacity of 22,000 MW by 2030 (10,000 MW of which will be exported and 12,000 MW for the local market), taking advantage of the considerable potential it has. This program is already in its second phase, marked by the launch in 2014 of the twenty-three (23) photovoltaic projects, spread over the highlands and southern Algeria. These projects will be followed by the construction of 18 other photovoltaic plants for the southern regions, and will be built alongside existing diesel plants, with the aim of introducing a hybridization system. and thus to ensure a continuity of the alternating supply of both conventional and renewable systems. As a result, Algeria will effectively enter the era of the energy mix.

One of the main reasons for the creation of SKTM is undoubtedly the specific nature of isolated networks in the south, this specificity is meaningful in the distance from production sites, and the lack of interconnection between central banks, which implies that the resumption of the supply in the event of breakdowns, can not make use of external means, but any initiative must be taken locally, to add to this, the difficulties of supply of fuel, by means rolling, with all the impact on SKTM's operational efficiency.

This isolation also exerts a great influence on the workers in the accomplishment of their daily tasks, and weighs on their psychological state. This state of affairs requires the creation of adequate socio-professional conditions, by providing accommodation, catering, recreation and leisure activities.

Given that we are about to blow out the first candle of SKTM, which coincides with the date of April 07, 2014, I take this tribune to pay tribute to all the workers of the company wherever they are, which ensures with great self-sacrificing, with a real commitment the public service mission supported by SKTM, the social partner having to work for serenity and a good working atmosphere, in the end, I will not finish this word without thanking Sonelgaz senior management for its unwavering support during this start-up phase which we consider crucial and crucial for SKTM's life.

Shariket Kahraba wa Taket Moutadjadida, SKTM.spa, is a power generation company, the capital of which is subscribed entirely by the Sonelgaz holding company. Created on April 07, 2013, by splitting the company SPE.Spa, are headquartered in Ghardaia.

The company was born in a context of general awareness of energy uncertainties and the need to fight against global warming, a massive use of solar energy in all its forms, direct (photovoltaic, thermal) or indirect (wind, biomass) must become a priority, an obvious one.
In addition to the issues related to global warming, the depletion of traditional energy resources, oil, natural gas among others, the use of clean energy, is no longer a question of choice but much more a question of becoming nations. Especially since Algeria enjoys a solar potential of the largest in the world, and a wind potential also significant, added to the extent of its territory, allowing it to implement the production facilities of electricity by renewable processes without hindrance.

Why SKTM is created?

SKTM was created to respond to strategic issues of the day. It's about :
  • The specificities that characterize the management of the Diesel production fleet of RIS (Southern Insulated Networks).
  • To satisfy the best conditions of continuity and quality of service provided to the populations of the southern regions of the country.
  • The desire to implement the ambitious national Renewable Energy Development Program, highlighting the enormous potential of our country, including the extent of its territory and the duration of sunshine.

SKTM's main missions are:

SKTM's main missions are the operation of isolated electricity networks in the south (conventional electricity generation) and renewable energies for the entire national territory.
The development of the electrical infrastructure of the Southern Isolated Networks production network, the engineering, maintenance and management of power plants within its area of responsibility.
The marketing of energy produced for distribution subsidiaries, particularly after the deployment of Renewable Energies on interconnected networks.

Achievements and perspectives:

Since its creation, SKTM has participated, along with the other core business subsidiaries, with an emergency program to guarantee a summer 2013 passage without major incidents, and thus ensure a quality and continuity of irreproachable service for the benefit of populations in the southern regions of the country.
The summer 2013 transition was marked by an additional power supply of 121.3 MW, ie 101 MW of mobile gas turbines, 20.3 MW of diesel units and 22 MW of recovered capacity thanks to a maintenance plan.
This program reduced the total capacity of the insulated south systems to 336 MW, while the maximum power demand did not exceed 208 MW, which allowed for a summer period without load shedding in the southern regions of the country. country.

This effort is expected to be maintained to cover the maximum power demand for the summer of 2014, with an additional power supply of the order of 200.5 MW, in addition to a buffer reserve.
The year 2014 will also be marked by the construction of 23 photovoltaic solar power plants, located in the highlands and southern regions of the country, the commissioning of the Ghardaïa experimental plant, the Adrar wind farm, and 10 meteorological measurement stations.
