ShelterBox is made up of people who believe in shelter as a human right – that shelter from the chaos of disaster and conflict is vital. No ifs. No buts.
When people are plunged into crisis, normality is suspended. But good, quality shelter can cut through the chaos. This is why they provide the tools that enable people to rebuild homes and transform their lives.
They do things differently. They were born different. They started life as a small organisation in rugged West Cornwall in the UK and have grown to make a big impact across the world. They don’t follow the crowd – they’ve carved their own path that leads straight to the families they support.
Their pledge
They are impatient to see a world where no family is left without shelter when disaster strikes. This drives us to transform the support of their donors, fundraisers and volunteers into the hope and power of families all over the world - the power to rebuild homes, lives and communities.
Their impatience leads to determination. They will do whatever it takes to ensure that no family goes without shelter.
What they do
They put families first. The commitment of their supporters enables us to provide emergency shelter and tools for families robbed of their homes by conflict and natural disaster.
They don’t believe that one size fits all. They work hard to understand the impact of each emergency and the need this creates within individual communities. The equipment they provide, whatever shape it takes, gives people the hope and the power to transform their own lives.
They test and evaluate all of the aid they provide by talking to, and learning from, the families who use it. This fuels us to be innovative and to continue evolving.
