For almost 100 years, Simavi has been working for equality and the human rights of women and girls to water and sanitation. It does this together with partners in 10 African and Asian countries. Simavi's goal is a world in which all women and girls can exercise their right to water and sanitation, resulting in a healthier and more just society.
In a rapidly changing world grappling with major crises in the areas of climate, health and human rights, Simavi focuses on three areas where it believes it can achieve the greatest impact with its projects, lobbying and campaigns: equality, climate and power.
Simavi wants to increase the involvement and leadership of women in water and sanitation. It believes that women's and girls' access to climate-resilient water and sanitation is at the heart of climate justice. It is also convinced that women's voices and expertise are crucial for change when it comes to water and sanitation.
Its work is part of the Sustainable Development Goals and Simavi focuses specifically on three interconnected SDGs: water and sanitation (SDG6); gender equality (SDG5) and climate (SDG13).
