About

Who They Are

The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) was established on 27 January 2004 to forge dialogue and cooperation between private and public maritime stakeholders. They work with stakeholders across the entire spectrum of the industry, including the marine, shipping, port and ancillary services. Over time, this strong industry support has enabled us to reach out directly to the community for ideas and initiatives that strengthen the maritime ecosystem.

As their representative voice, they collectively raise awareness of the Singapore maritime industry. Their outreach activities include industry and scholarship talks, and regular networking events for employers and tertiary students.

Mission and Vision

SMF champions and supports Singapore’s efforts to become an International Maritime Centre (IMC). We believe that potential for industry growth exists at the intersection of public-private partnership. All our activities are shaped by the following goals:
  • Provide a forum and serve as the bridge between the private and public sector for the exchange, generation and development of ideas and proposals to further Singapore’s position as an IMC
  • Strengthen co-operation among various sectors of the maritime industry
  • Work closely with the Government as a voice for the private sector in promoting Singapore as an IMC, as well as develop manpower to support the maritime industry
