Sociedad Nacional de Galapagos (SONGA) is a recognized globally as one of the leading producers of the highest quality of farm-raised shrimp. Their reputation for consistency in quality, supply and workmanship places them at the top of many of the most distinguished buyers'​ list . However, in 1982 they at SONGA switched focus and dedicate themselves to the process and exportation of farm raised white shrimp. With their new focus, all of their operations moved to their current location on the outskirts of Guayaquil, Ecuador. They currently control over 8,000 hectares (19,900 acres) of farms to ensure that 75% of their raw materials are from thei own facilities. Their production facility has a capacity of 250 tons per day. Annually, they export more than 45,000 tons of the finest farm-raised white shrimp globally. Their processes have been audited by recognized firms in Europe and North America as well as local authorities to assure their customers that they have been handled on international standards.
