About

The National Fisheries Society (SNP) was established on June 5, 1952, with the objective of promoting the global positioning of the Peruvian fishing industry. The requirements of the fishing sector and its projection in the future led the Committee of Fisheries installed in the National Society of Industries to separate from this institution to form its own business guild.

The first SNP headquarters was on the second floor of the Parra del Riego building on Wilson Avenue, today Garcilaso de la Vega Avenue, being legally founded as a non-profit corporate civil association. Its first president was Mr. Manuel Elguera Mc Parlin, who directed the fishing guild between 1952 and 1958.
