The Cameroon Transport Network connects 24 posts and includes 1944.29 kilometers of High Voltage lines, 15081.48 kilometers of Medium Voltage lines and 15209.25 kilometers of Low Voltage lines.
To meet a growing need for development of the nation, the continuation of reforms initiated by the President of the Republic of Cameroon is linked by the implementation of Law No. 2011/022 of 14 December 2011, which establishes in its article 23 the company responsible for the management of the electricity transmission network. Thus, on October 08, 2015 the President of the Republic of Cameroon signs a decree, No. 2015/454 establishing the National Society of Transport Electricity (SONATREL). SONATREL is a public corporation under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Water and Energy and under the financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance.

Their strategic vision is to provide Cameroon with an electricity grid that meets the expectations of all and the challenges of the time to lead Cameroon to emergence by 2035.
Mission
As stipulated by the decree signed by the President of the Republic, SONATREL will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, development of public electricity transmission networks throughout Cameroon, as well as management. energy flows that pass through it. As such, it will have to: ensure the maintenance, renewal and compliance of electricity transmission works throughout the national territory; ensure that the assumptions underlying the development of the development plan for transmission works are consistent with the multi-year programming of power generation investments; ensure the connection and access to the public electricity transmission network of any authorized person who so requests, in compliance with applicable regulatory and technical requirements; ensure the balance and stability of the electrical system.
