Society of Water Supply and Sanitation S.A. (Sanasa)
About

SANASA was founded on March 14, 1974 with the regulation of Decree nº 4.437. It is a joint stock company with open capital, with the municipal government as the majority shareholder. SANASA is committed to the United Nations 2030 Agenda through the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals – ODS6, Water and Sanitation for All.

Today it is part of the United Nations Global Compact Brazil Network, the United Nations Global Compact CEO Water Mandate, the Global Reporting Initiative - GRI and Ethos Institute. Through these organizations, the company reinforces its commitment to sustainability and the environment.

Considered a vanguard company, SANASA has always been at the forefront in sanitation projects. Reason of pride for the campineiros. It was the first municipal sanitation company in the country to use ultrafiltration membranes. There are two stations that use this technology, the EPAR CAPIVARI II and EPAR BOA VISTA Recycled Water Production Stations, which produce reused water with a quality level of 99%. With the conclusion of EPAR BOA VISTA, Campinas reached the installed capacity to treat 100% of the sewage, making the city the first with more than five hundred thousand inhabitants to reach this capacity.

SANASA also has 21 Sewage Treatment Stations (ETE), 118 Sewage Pumping Stations (EEE), 5 Water Treatment Stations and 2 Raw Water Collection Stations that capture water from the Atibaia and Capivari Rivers, which are responsible for supplying the city of Campinas.

SANASA was elected, for four consecutive times by the magazine Saneamento Ambiental, the largest and best municipal sanitation company in Brazil. This recognition is due, in large part, to the work and quality of its operational staff. It has adequate equipment in its laboratory to comply with the potability standards required by Consolidation Ordinance number 5, of the Ministry of Health. Campinas has one of the best waters in Brazil. It was one of the first companies in the country to add fluoride to treated water, which helped fight caries.

To achieve this quality, the company has always invested in technologies for water research and treatment. SANASA's Central Laboratory is made up of a specialized technical team, in addition to high-cost measuring devices that allow the analysis of substances and microorganisms, with the objectives of safety, speed and, above all, quality control.

The company also develops social programs with the community. In this area, SANASA seeks to sensitize and guide participants in activities on environmental and sanitation aspects, with emphasis on the water supply system and the sanitary sewage system, through the 'My School at SANASA' program, which serves the community school at all levels of education (children, primary, secondary, technical, higher, graduate, etc.). The 'SANASA in the Community' program promotes community engagement with the aim of sensitizing the population to assume a more responsible, sustainable and participatory role regarding sanitation systems and the environment. The work is carried out with an interdisciplinary team and methodologies appropriate to each of its projects.

In addition, the SANASA Water Knowledge Center presents an expographic project that proposes a non-formal education space with a structure to carry out various activities, the main one being the Interactive Water Museum, which aims to sensitize and engage visitors to the theme of water, through an interactive, playful and metaphorical experience.

The basic sanitation rates in the city place SANASA among the largest companies in the country. Today, it serves 99.81% of the population with piped drinking water, collects and removes sewage from 96.42% of the population and treats 90.04% of the city's sewage.

This is Sanasa Campinas, which, over these 47 years, has built its greatest asset: the brand's credibility with the population and the transparency of a company that is the pride of the city. It means better health and better quality of life for Campinas.

Sanasa is committed to the accountability and transparency of its data to the population, and for this purpose it publishes Sanasa in Numbers on its website monthly, with its main indexes.
