About

The Socio Economic Units (SEU), Kerala was established in 1987 under the bilateral agreement between the Royal Governments of Netherlands and Denmark and Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India. This was the first integrated water supply and sanitation programme in India. SEU was functioned as an integral part of Kerala Water Authority (KWA) for community participation, management, capacity building, community monitoring in the water & environmental sanitation sector.

The Socio Economic Unit Foundation (SEUF) was registered as an NGO in June, 1995 under Travancore - Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act XII of 1955. It has significantly expanded its activities from those in Rural Water Supply, Sanitation, Women in Development, Capacity Building, Geographical Information System based Resource Mapping, Software Development to Planning/Estimation of Community Managed Water Supply Schemes, Research, Consultancies etc. It is an accredited agency of Government of Kerala in the field of water and environmental sanitation. The organization is working towards the furtherance of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

From the programme implementation experience gained over the last two decades, we are in the process of diversifying our activities to the consultancy and GIS support across the country, with specific focus on South India, in our core competency areas of water, environmental sanitation, decentralized solid waste management (including bio-gas plants), natural resource management, resource/waste management, capacity building, local governance and livelihood.
