The South Dakota Department of Health works to promote, protect and improve the health and well-being of all South Dakotans.

HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS

In addition to surveying and licensing health care facilities in South Dakota, the Department of Health also supports providers with such services as public health laboratory testing, preparedness and response resources, and a statewide trauma registry. The department also administers various programs to assist rural communities and their health care facilities with recruiting providers and promoting health career opportunities to South Dakota students.
