About

Spanish Latin American Welfare Centre Inc is  an experienced community based not-for- profit organization that provides culturally and linguistically appropriate community services to the Spanish speaking community of Victoria.

They have supported migrants and refugees from Spain and Latin America since 1977 through a variety of program and services including Aged Care Services, Education services, Tax Assistance, and Children’s Playgroups.

Their origins

As the first agency established to coordinate and provide services to the Spanish speaking community, The Spanish Latin American Welfare Centre was founded in 1977 by a group of Spanish-speaking professionals and public servants in response to the increasing needs of the refugees and migrants from Spain and Latin America in the areas of welfare and settlement.

The founders of the organization represented the major Spanish-speaking groups who had settled in Australia at the time. The original goal that united the founders of the organization was to create awareness within the Spanish community to ensure a better knowledge and understanding of the existing community services available to migrants and refugees.

Their Mission

To be a leading provider of culturally appropriate services delivered with quality, integrity and respect to maximise the wellbeing of a unified Spanish speaking community.
