The State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology (LBEG) is committed to the protection and sustainable use of natural resources and resources. It supports the state government, the rest of the public administration and the Lower Saxony economy in all matters relating to mining, energy and geology. The LBEG is a subordinate authority of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Labor and Transport with official tasks.
The LBEG works closely with the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics (LIAG). The three facilities share a common administration in the Geozentrum Hannover and use a common infrastructure.
The LBEG is one of the State Geological Services of Germany.
