Stratégies Mer et Littoral (Strategies, sea and coasts) is a French consultancy born in 2010 from the unique combination of maritime and coastal knowledge that associates science and technique, law and policy, and knowledge of the sea and the sailors.
VALUES AND CONVICTIONS
The ocean covers two thirds of our globe, and technological progress now makes it fully accessible to us, for better or for worse. Before considering exploiting Mars, asteroids or distant planets, it seems sensible to make use of the marine resources and the maritime space; but it is essential to do so while protecting this exceptional, indispensable and irreplaceable environment, and equitably sharing both the benefits of this use and the burden of that protection.
WHAT DO WE DO?
We support stakeholders looking to develop a project, a programme, a strategy, or a policy. Our clients are international organisations, states or communities, but also NGOs and industrial companies. We support them from concept to project, from dream to reality. We can:
- understand maritime issues, challenges and stakeholders, be they environmental, economic, social, identity or territory-related;
- develop strategic and prospective visions: today’s decisions, built from yesterday’s knowledge, will help design tomorrow. We can help our clients develop visions that go further than the horizon.
- develop a broader vision; at sea, in coastal zones, all issues are inextricably interconnected; ecosystems have no borders, and fences do not exist. In our policies, strategies and projects, we - support integrated approaches, inclusive of all dimensions of the environment, the economy, but also the human and social aspects;
- take into account all levels, from local to global: the ocean is global, and even local actions must include all spatial scales and all governance levels.
implement the principles of territorial intelligence for an effective and inclusive governance of maritime and coastal areas.
