Streetfootballworld are a global not-for-profit organisation that links relevant actors in the field of development through football. streetfootballworld is the world’s leading network in the field of social change through football. They intend to use the power of soccer to tackle social issues like poverty, disease and lack of education. They unite more than 100 non-profit organisations from over 60 countries that use football to engage young people, teach them important life skills and create opportunities for a better future. By connecting these organisations to partners from the realms of sport, business, politics and philanthropy, they bring global support to local initiatives.
They believe that the principles and values inherent in football can teach young people about fair play, tolerance, inclusion and respect, equipping them with the confidence and knowledge needed to become young role models in their communities.
The development of integrated and collaborative infrastructure projects promoting “safe spaces” for youth to meet, play and learn (as per the above 20 Centres Project) has become integral in streetfootballworld’s strategy and overall set of core skills and expertise. streetfootballworld has years of expertise in developing long-term strategic plans for the inclusive use of football as a tool for social development. Through its network members, streetfootballworld has the ability to put these strategic plans into action in the communities that are most in need.
Purpose:
Since its inception, football has been lauded as the beautiful game. A single perfect pass or soaring goal can inspire wonder all over the world. But they see a beauty that goes even deeper.
They see football as not just a game but rather a great uniting force – a universal language they speak and a common culture they share. Whether at the final of the World Cup or on the streets of a rural town, football has the power to bring people together and instil in them a sense of community and companionship.
They exist for one reason and one reason only: to harness this power for good.
The best football matches are played by united teams with a shared vision. They believe the same principle applies to driving social change. They all have the responsibility to make change happen, but no single player can solve the complex problems at hand. That's why they have assembled a global network of community organisations that rally behind one common goal: changing the world through football.
