In 1910, at the initiative of the French Bank "Banque de Paris et des Pays Bas" (PARIBAS) and the Italian Bank "Banca Commerciale Italiana" (COMIT), the French and Italian Bank for South America with headquarters in Paris was created (France). New partners gradually joined this new Bank: Indosuez in 1948, Union des Banques Suisses in 1949 and Dresdner Bank in 1977.

In July 2004, Abbeyfield Group acquired a 78% stake in Banco Sudameris de Paraguay SAECA, changing the name to Sudameris SAECA In March 2008, Abbeyfield Financial Holdings acquired the remaining 20% ​​stake in Banca Intesa, with which its property totaled of just over 98%.
