Since its establishment in 1972, the Summit Group has diversified into areas such as power generation, trading, supplying furnace oil, shipping, storage, inland container depots and freight stations, infrastructure development, and optical fiber networks.
The Summit Group is the first local IPP in Bangladesh and the leading local IPP, providing power to the national grid through its subsidiaries. The Summit Group currently operates 10 power projects with total generation capacity of 923 MW, which accounts for around 9% of the total power capacity of Bangladesh as of August 2014.
