Support After Rape and Sexual Violence Leeds (SARSVL)

Rape Crisis Centre for Leeds is a feminist organisation that exists to support all women and girls who have been affected by sexual violence of any kind at any time in their lives. They promote their needs and rights and work towards the elimination of sexual violence.  The following values and principles underpin all of the work and activities: confidentiality, trust and belief, respect, feminism, empowerment, diversity of provision, responsiveness, women-only safe space, partnership working, inclusion, accessibility, empathy, woman-centred practice led by the women they support, non-judgemental Support After Rape & Sexual Violence Leeds (SARSVL) is a company limited by guarantee, registered with Companies House and a Charity registered with the Charity Commission. They have a Board and a Steering Group of approximately 15 women who meet on a fortnightly basis to take forward development of the SARSVL service including: Governance Training Premises Publicity Partnerships Services SARSVL is a member of the Helplines Partnership the membership body for organisations that provide helpline services in the UK and internationally. SARSVL aims to: 1. provide free, confidential support services (telephone, email, text, face to face) to women and girls whose lives have been affected by sexual violence; 2. reflect the community they serve, working actively to encompass the diversity of needs amongst women and girls who may wish to access the services; 3. contribute to the development of local sexual violence-related services, aiming towards comprehensive support for women and girls in Leeds and surrounding areas; 4. raise awareness and understanding of sexual violence; 5. challenge and change public attitudes about sexual violence against women and girls.
