Sutron is a Division of OTT Hydromet. Proudly formed from six separate companies (OTT, HYDROLAB, ADCON Telemetry, Sutron, Lufft and Kipp & Zonen), OTT Hydromet offers the combined strength and expertise of leaders in the water quality, quantity, telemetry and meteorology fields and over 140 years of experience in environmental measurement. Sutron customizes monitoring and control solutions for applications involving weather, floods, coastal monitoring and tides, water level, water quality, dams, irrigation, rainfall, and extreme and remote environments. Since 1975, Sutron’s hydrological and meteorological monitoring and control systems, equipment, and software have been designed by Sutron, built by Sutron, installed by Sutron, supported by Sutron and maintained by Sutron. Sutron is a major supplier of equipment and systems to the U.S. National Weather Service, NOAA, National Oceanic Service, U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation, Texas A&M University Division of Nearshore Research as well as many state and local governments and private sector industries. Manufactured in the United States to exacting ISO Quality Standards, Sutron’s complete line of remote site equipment and systems are designed for continuous, reliable operation in extreme environments (-40 to +60° C typically). Sutron is listed as SBSA on the GSA Schedule. Sutron’s equipment is also CE Certified and their satellite telemetry equipment is certified by NESDIS for High Data Rate baud of 100, 300, and 1200. Sutron’s multi-disciplined staff of civil, electrical, control, telecommunications, and software engineers have developed successful products and systems that solve problems in every state in the union as well as all over the world. Sutron is a publicly traded company employing over 80 associates in the United States and abroad. Sutron is headquartered outside of Washington D.C. in Sterling, Virginia. Domestically, Sutron also has offices in Tampa, Orlando, Lakeland, and West Palm Beach, Florida, as well as Bountiful, Utah, and Alabama. Sutron Corporation pioneered the concept of real-time processing of stream gage data acquired through satellite data collection systems. Sutron developed a complete suite of software that collects gage height data, applies shifts, offsets, and rating table lookups in real time, and displays discharge minutes after the stage is collected. Sutron developed a complete set of post-processing software to compute mean daily gage heights and discharges the day after the data was collected. The software would also produce, in real time, the USGS annual report format for stations. Sutron developed a complete monitoring system for the State Engineer’s office of Colorado to monitor water usage and water rights in real time. This system won a National Engineering Achievement Award from the Society of Professional Engineers.
