The Tanzania Communication and Development Center (TCDC) is a locally-registered, not-for-profit organization. Formed by a team of talented and professional Tanzanians, TCDC has over 20 years of combined experience in designing, implementing, managing and evaluating social behavior change communication (SBCC), public health, social marketing and community mobilization programs in Tanzania. They strive to empower Tanzanians to take charge of their own health.
TCDC provides expertise in the area of health communication, social marketing and capacity-building, focusing specifically on malaria, HIV/AIDS, family planning, safe motherhood and nutrition. They have extensive research and financial management experience, having successfully managed projects funded by major international donor funds such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the Department for International Development (DFID) and the Global Fund, among others.
The Tanzania Communication and Development Center (TCDC) is a recognized leader in the field of health communication. They specialize in social and behavior change communication, knowledge management, training and capacity building, and research and evaluation.
TCDC operates in several regions in Tanzania. While headquartered in Dar es Salaam, each of the operational regions has a regional manager that serves as a liaison between TCDC and the implementing partners at the regional and district levels. The regional managers also supervise the work of sub-granted partners whose activities align with TCDC’s implementation strategy.
To ensure that the activities promote local ownership, TCDC actively builds the capacity of its partners. At the district level, for example, TCDC regional managers engage district authorities, non-government organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs) in the design, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of SBCC and development programs. This gives the partners invaluable experience at every step of the program development process while improving accountability.
