SECTORS

GOVERNMENT & MILITARY

Technologists, Inc. has an extensive record of constructing government and military facilities and camps. Our in-house construction projects routinely include furnishing all management supervision, labor, materials, tools, machinery, equipment, supplies, services, consumables, and all other operational maintenance necessary to execute and complete a project. Our work on facilities and compounds for military and police forces has included the design/build of administrative facilities, barracks, dining facilities, shower and toilet facilities, maintenance facilities, laundry facilities, and recreation facilities. We also design and install all critical infrastructure, such as roads, water and wastewater systems, power systems, and communication systems.

Military

Technologists, Inc. has designed and built hundreds of buildings on military bases including administrative facilities, armories, barracks, dining facilities, shower and toilet facilities, maintenance facilities, laundry facilities, and recreation facilities. We also have built force protection measures such as perimeter stone walls and fences, sniper barriers, guard towers, entry control points and bunkers, as well as installing security lighting and video surveillance systems.

Training

Technologists, Inc. has built some of the most elite training facilities in Afghanistan, from the Drug Enforcement Agency National Interdiction Unit just outside of Kabul, to the Pol-e-Charkhi Prison Guard Training Facility to the Afghan National Police National Training Center in Maydan Wardak. In addition to these complete training compounds, Ti has designed and constructed training ranges including rifle and small arms training ranges, ammunition training ranges, and many classroom buildings for academic support of military and police training.

Law Enforcement

Technologists, Inc. has kept pace with the growing demand for the construction of law enforcement facilities in Afghanistan. We designed and constructed the Counter-Narcotics Judicial Center in Kabul which provides a detention facility as well as court-rooms for processing people accused of Narcotics crimes. We created a maximum security wing at Cell Block 4 at the Pol-e-Charkhi Detention Center near Kabul, as well as a number of Afghan Civil Order Police Stations, designed to ring Afghanistan’s major cities with riot police forces.

Medical

Well-equipped medical facilities are still few and far between throughout Afghanistan. Technologists, Inc.’s mission is to ensure that government and military medical facilities meet the required conditions for delivering high quality medical services. The functionality indicator for health care units comprises several components: infrastructure, human resources (HR), equipment, access to water and power and availability of drugs and consumables, and facility security. Ti’s work has included design and construction of medical facilities and their water and power infrastructure, medical supply and equipment warehousing, and security upgrades to medical facilities.

POST-CONFLICT / POST-DISASTER

Technologists, Inc.’s post-conflict/post-disaster skills have been honed by over five years’ experience in Afghanistan. The needs of people in post-conflict/post-disaster environments are similar since both conflict and disaster involve damage to property and way of life. Ti provides essential services ensuring successful project completion in such difficult environments including overall management services, unexploded ordinance (UXO) removal and demining, logistics, security, and capacity building.

Unexploded Ordnance

Demining projects are complex undertaking. Working in a nation like Afghanistan only adds to a project’s complexity. The ultimate aim of demining activity is to reduce the risk of incidents causing death or injury to land users. The primary benefits Technologists, Inc. provides to our clients are the confidence and assurance that:

-The scope and scale of the UXO/mine remediation is both necessary and appropriate.

-The methodologies, technologies and management structures to be employed are the most efficient and effective available.

-The quality of the UXO/mine work conducted conforms to International Standards.

Logistics

Afghanistan represents one of the most challenging countries in the world for the movement of personnel and supplies. Within this challenging environment, Technologists, Inc. safely moves hundreds of persons and tons of supplies to remote sites daily.

Capacity Building

The future of the developing world requires a swift injection of capacity building on all levels of society. At Technologists, Inc., we have put this idea into practice through professional development of both women and men, mentoring of small businesses, and vocational training.

INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

Technologists, Inc. is Afghanistan’s infrastructure specialist: we have built over 100 km of roads, over 40 power plants and electrical distribution systems, and dozens of sewer and wastewater treatment facilities.

We at Ti do not just install a new facility or replace an old one, we create a flexible underlying infrastructure so that facilities and infrastructure can grow with the nation of Afghanistan.

Road Construction

Technologists, Inc. has built over 100 km of roads and highways in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, including the road through Afghanistan’s notorious Tora Bora region and the highway linking Kabul to Bagram Airfield.

Power Supply & Distribution

Technologists, Inc. has delivered over 40 cost-effective, efficient and reliable power supplies to multiple projects in Afghanistan. Ti’s capabilities include on-site power needs analysis, design and construction of power plants, power transmission and distribution, and all associated civil, mechanical and electric works.

Wastewater

Technologists, Inc.’s engineering team is experienced at assessing water and wastewater treatment needs and designing and installing complex water supply and wastewater treatment systems overseas. Ti performs a site evaluation sufficiently thorough to identify all potential design boundaries that might affect system design and implementation. Ti:

-Designs and builds sanitary sewer networks

-Installs wastewater treatment plants

-Constructs pump stations and force mains, sludge filter press systems and buildings, and UV disinfection systems

Environment & Energy

Technologists, Inc. understands that today’s environmental challenges demand the ability to understand, integrate and optimize multiple human and natural processes and systems. Water and energy management are crucial to building and maintaining environmental integrity. Despite undergoing considerable change, the global energy industry remains a key driver behind economic growth and development. We focus on sustainable solutions that allow continued growth while improving the quality of life, organizational performance and the environment. Our work is based on outstanding hands-on environmental experience, as well as the transfer of best practices across government and private sector customers. We help our clients prepare for change by integrating power solutions that cut costs, streamline operations, and raise operational efficiency.

MINING & MANUFACTURING

The estimated cumulative value of Afghanistan’s deposits of iron ore, copper, cobalt, gold, coal and lithium stand at around one trillion dollars. Vast deposits of lithium, extensively used in computer and cell phone batteries, have been found in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province. Ti’s mining and quarrying operations are well-established. Ti has the equipment and expertise and a long-standing relationship with Afghanistan’s Department of Mining Affairs which positions us well to bid on mining tenders and win mining contracts.

In addition, Technologists, Inc. operates several factories throughout Afghanistan where we manufacture a steady supply of construction products. This allows us to offer our clients a superior, cost-effective product.

Mining & Quarrying

Technologists, Inc. has acquired mining rights that allow us to obtain raw materials to keep our asphalt and concrete plants running 24/7. Ti's quarrying operations supply us with an abundance of stone, which we process into aggregate. Aggregate has many uses, but Ti mostly uses it to manufacture cement blocks and asphaltic concrete. Ti's many aggregate mills produce a steady supply of crushed stone, which we ship throughout the world.

Concrete

Technologists, Inc. uses concrete for many applications: we make a variety of concrete products such as pavements and cinderblocks to molded structures like bunkers and guard towers. Using Portland cement and our own aggregate, Ti's cement block production units churn out large supplies at our plants and project sites.

Asphalt

Technologists, Inc. combines stone aggregate (quarried and processed at our own facility) with bitumen (better known as asphalt) to make asphaltic concrete (AC). Ti manufactures and distributes AC throughout the regions where we work.

Sheet Metal

Early on in our history, Technologists, Inc. discovered that sheet metal products are expensive to import so Ti set up a small sheet metal factory, saving our customers further construction costs. We have a complete steel shop where we take sheet metal stock and make finished sheet metal products (such as electrical panels and other utility boxes.) We also make steel poles which are suitable for manufacturing street lights.
