The NGO GREEN EARTH intervenes in Burkina Faso since 1989 in the realization of bocage perimeters (wégoubri in Moore language), a new rural development concept developed by the pilot Guiè Farm in the 90s and now incorporated in to Burkinabe other pilot farms.
The degradation of the Sahelian rural areas has worsened in recent decades, threatening the rural population. The bocage of rural areas can solve the problems related to this extensive agriculture.
For a comprehensive approach, the pilot Farm Guiè managed to integrate environmental protection in Sahelian agriculture. The concept is based on the creation of bocage perimeters condominium consisting of individual parcels and common whose management is organized around a group of land beneficiaries. The result is a completely restored environment where agriculture is no longer synonymous with erosion, where farming is no longer synonymous with e-grazing and where trees and shrubs are harmoniously integrated into the environment.
