TESE – Development Association is a Portuguese Non-Governmental Development Organization (NGDO) established in 2002, which aims to create and implement innovative solutions to advance social development, equality of opportunities, and wellbeing.
TESE wants to be the lead organization in anticipating and promoting innovative solutions that best meet current or emerging social needs.
TESE creates and implements innovative responses that best promote social development, equal opportunities and quality of life, creating partnerships with public, private, and organization of civil society.
HOW THEY WORK
Local Innovation. Promotes projects of Local Development, International Development, and Education for Sustainable Development - in partnership with local actors.
Research. Develops studies and research, on the dynamics of social innovation and the evolution of social needs.
Social Consulting. Works with organizations of public and private sectors, and the third sector - in Portugal and in developing countries - in order to accelerate their capacity for action and social innovation, helping to create new models and answers that better meet social needs.
Networking & Awareness. Participates and organizes initiatives to promote awareness-raising, knowledge sharing and training in areas related to social innovation, development, sustainability and social entrepreneurship.
Engineers Without Borders (EWB)
Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is TESE's program for international development, a focused intervention on environment and development issues, promoting social entrepreneurship and sustainable access to services and social infrastructures within the water, sanitation, energy, waste, agriculture and technology sectors.
The EWB unit has over 20 people in 4 offices: Lisbon, Maputo, Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé.
TESE-EWB has over 30 projects and consultancy actions implemented in Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, São Tome and Principe, Cape Verde and East Timor. See more
