Texto was founded in April 1977, beginning its activity in the design and publication of school manuals. In 1986 it extended its scope of publication and started to be present also in the area of general editions. Its activity has always focused on book publishing and distribution, with a focus on the textbook segment, which is why TEXTO asserts itself as Editora do Conhecimento
The ability to innovate and enhance its products based on trust, thanks to the excellence and quality always demonstrated, made it possible in 1994 for Texto to become the Portuguese representative to the EEPG (European Educational Publishers Group).
1995 was marked by new business areas and ways of communicating, notably the launch of the edutainment
area , with the first multimedia products in Portuguese to be published. Still this year, Texto succeeds in pioneering the launch of its first e-commerce project
- LeYaOnline.pt, the online bookstore where it is possible to acquire all the titles published by the publishers belonging to the LeYa Group.
In turn, internationalization, which was the focal point of its strategy, was launched in 1996 with the arrival in Mozambique, which resulted from the creation of the local Text Editores, having marked the entry into Portuguese-speaking countries.
The corporate reorganization was the main milestone in 2000, which resulted in the development of the www.educacao.te.pt

In the year 2001, Texto Editores - Cabo Verde is created.
