The African Renewable Energy Alliance is a platform for policy makers, representatives from business and the civil society to exchange information and consult about policies, technologies and financial mechanisms for the deployment of renewable energies in Africa.
In the quest for sustainable solutions at national, regional and international level, AREA plays a catalytic role in promoting knowledge transfer and international cooperation.
Since its foundation in Ethiopia in October 2009 by the World Future Council, this vital member-driven network has grown steadily in quantity and quality and comprises of over 1000 members from 75 countries.
What They Do
To achieve their objectives, AREA is raising awareness on the socio-economic advantages of a thorough deployment of sustainable, renewable energy for the society and the environment. AREA is providing decision makers with guidance on the needed supportive frameworks for the uptake of renewable energy production. They will develop toolkits that give flexible and tangible acting advice on how to achieve renewable energy targets.
