The Coca-Cola Foundation is the global philanthropic arm of The Coca-Cola Company. Since its inception in 1984, the Foundation has awarded more than $1 billion in grants to support sustainable community initiatives —from water to women’s empowerment, from community recycling to wellbeing—around the world.

Overview

In 1984, Roberto Goizueta, then Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company, established The Coca-Cola Foundation. Over the past three decades, The Foundation has grown from a local foundation into a global philanthropic organization.

The Coca-Cola Company is committed to giving back 1 percent of its prior year’s operating income annually. This commitment is made through The Coca-Cola Foundation and company donations. In 2017, The Coca-Cola Company and the Coca-Cola Foundation gave back more than $138 million to directly benefit nearly 300 organizations across more than 70 countries and territories.

Since its inception, the Foundation has supported learning inside and outside the classroom. However, addressing critical community challenges and opportunities is an evolving process. In 2007, the Foundation broadened its support to include global water stewardship programs, fitness and nutrition efforts and community recycling programs. Today, these strategies align with the Company’s Sustainability platform and include women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.
