After the establishment of Bangladesh, a new ministry was inaugurated as Food and Civil Supplies Ministry and under this, an institution called Directorate General of Food was formed. Since there are food shortages in different areas of Bangladesh, the Food Department has become one of the most important departments of the government of Bangladesh.
