About
The NCDO Foundation and its legal predecessors have been working since 1970 on the involvement of Dutch people in sustainable global development. Knowledge sharing, citizen participation and innovation form a common thread throughout its long history.
Mission
The NCDO Foundation completed its executive activities in 2017. Founded in 1970, NCDO provided Dutch citizens, companies and governments with a contribution to the understanding, knowledge and involvement in (the role of the Netherlands in) sustainable global development.
NCDO was the publisher of OneWorld , the multimedia journalistic platform for global thinking and green doing that connects people with the world. In addition, NCDO published Samsam , educational platform for world-wise children. Kaleidos Research conducted research for these platforms and for external clients on global themes and sustainable behavior of Dutch people. The work has been partially transferred.
History
The National Commission for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development Foundation (NCDO) was established in 2003, when the National Commission of which it is the successor, was dissolved. That National Commission for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development (NCO) was a government committee up to and including 2002, consisting of representatives from a broad spectrum of civil society organizations, trade unions and the business community. The Commission promoted involvement in global sustainable development, often through (co-) financing and substantive support for civil society.
