The Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMw)
About

Background
ZonMw is the result of two organizations: ZorgOnderzoek Nederland (ZON) and the area Medical Sciences (MW) of NWO.
When these organizations merged, it was decided to use the name ZonMw. ZonMw is a stand-alone name and is not used as an abbreviation.

ZonMw is the Dutch organization of health care research and healthcare innovation. ZonMw stimulates the entire innovation cycle with all kinds of subsidy programs. From fundamental research to the implementation of new treatments, preventive interventions or improvements in the structure of health care.

In the selection of subsidy proposals, ZonMw always looks for innovation in combination with quality. More information about their subsidy programs can be found under Research and Results. There is also a subsidy calendar with all possibilities for grant applications. This subsidy calendar is updated daily.

Progress requires research and development. ZonMw finances health research and stimulates the use of the developed knowledge. In doing so, they contribute to improving health and care.

ZonMw has as main clients:

- The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS)
- The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO)

In their vision, two things are needed to improve health care and health: knowledge and the actual use of that knowledge.

ZonMw stimulates the entire innovation cycle with all kinds of subsidy programs. From fundamental research to the implementation of new treatments, preventive interventions or improvements in the structure of health care.
