Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology was born on October 1, 2003 as the result of a merger of Tokyo University of Mercantile Marine and Tokyo University of Fisheries. Since April 1, 2004, as the National University Corporation Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, they have worked on reforming themselves while promoting linkage among education, research and the community to become "a unique university with a competitive environment".
