Triangle Generation Humanitaire
About

Founded in 1994, Triangle Génération Humanitaire is a non-governmental organisation based in France that specialises in international relief and development. Triangle Génération Humanitaire organises humanitarian interventions for refugees, provides construction and equipment of centers for the disabled, training for group leaders and youth workers, experimental pilot micro-credit system, bleach production unit and repair and maintenance of distribution trucks and ambulance vehicles.

Expertise
Triangle Génération Humanitaire is an international solidarity organisation, integrating emergency relief, rehabilitation and development in its programmes. Its action is based on a professional and highly interactive operating mode, including several areas of expertise, within a comprehensive approach:

Rural development and food security - The “Rural Development and Food Security” unit aims to help victims of humanitarian crises or difficult economic situations recover their food security. To understand the diversity and complexity the functioning of societies in which Triangle Generation Humanitaire operates, the unit relies on a systematic and multi-disciplinary approach. It accentuates the characteristics and constraints of various ecosystems, on socio-economic organisation, on change dynamics and on interactions between different elements, at different levels of analysis. This approach emphasises local strategies and knowledge in production systems, in household economic organisation and in the socio-economic and cultural organisation of society. Dialogue and direct consultation with communities and involvement of local actors are the principles which define and direct the action, and which thus guarantee the relevance of projects.

Water, hygiene and sanitation - Triangle Génération Humanitaire has acquired technical experience in the water, hygiene and sanitation sector through in the field interventions over several years. The nature of these interventions has varied according to the level of response required (emergencies, rehabilitation, development and food security). It is also able to respond effectively to local needs by setting up infrastructure that is adapted to the needs of vulnerable groups who have limited or no access to water or sanitation.

Improvement of living conditions projects related to water are supervised directly by the water, hygiene and sanitation technical unit, which values and guarantees the positive impact of projects implemented while taken into account the balance between resources, environment and population.

Social-educational and psychosocial - Educational, social and / or psychosocial programmes have been part of Triangle Génération Humanitaire’s activities since its creation. Its aid workers are in fact convinced that beyond material relief brought to populations in need, another level of action is required.

In the regions where Triangle Generation Humanitaire operates, children, adolescents and their families need to be supported in dealing with the disruption in their lives, the trauma they have just been through, their extreme refugee situation, displaced people, “returnees”, or their precarious living conditions. These programmes are systematically carried out with local human resources, and in partnership with the community, which, through its involvement, rebuilds and regains its identity.

Civil engineering and construction - Civil engineering and construction are components, which essentially join with project actions linked to other sectors developed in Triangle Génération Humanitaire’s technical division. Reservoirs, cesspools, drainage channels, or latrine blocks will be produced in accordance with the water access sector, hygiene and sanitation. The rural development and food security sector will see the construction of livestock or storage or processing buildings, or renovation of bridges, roads, and irrigation work, or reduction of risks related to natural catastrophes. Finally, in the socio-educational and psychosocial areas, the construction of professional training, provision or teaching centres are the main construction-related activities.
