U.S. Embassy in Nepal
About

The mission of the U.S. Embassy in Nepal is to assist Nepal’s development as a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic nation that contributes positively to regional stability. In pursuit of this goal, the United States encourages multi-party democracy, including respect for human rights and the rule of law, and sustainable, market-oriented, and private-sector-led economic development. In addition, the Embassy seeks Nepal’s support on global issues such as counter-terrorism, peacekeeping, narcotics control, protection for the environment, and prevention of AIDS and other communicable diseases. USAID-Nepal contributes more than $80 million each year to the country's development, and other Embassy and State Department programs encourage mutual understanding between the United States and Nepal.
