On December 13, 2016, Burkina Faso was selected by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) for the development of a second compact. 

This first Compact was implemented from July 31, 2009 to July 31, 2014 by the Millennium Challenge Account-Burkina Faso (MCA-BF), an administrative entity created for this purpose by the Government of Burkina Faso.

Following this selection of Burkina Faso, the Government created, by decree N ° 2017-210 / PRES / PM / MINEFID of April 19, 2017, the Coordination Unit for the Formulation of the second compact of Burkina Faso (UCF-Burkina), service attached to the Prime Ministry.
