The Malaria Elimination Initiative (MEI) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Global Health Group believes global malaria eradication through regional elimination is possible within a generation. Their action tank model enables them to effectively develop and target the right tools and strategies on the pathway to impact. Whether strengthening surveillance and response, researching drug or vector control interventions, analyzing costs and benefits, supporting regional initiatives, or informing policy and financing, they strive to remain one step ahead of the changing patterns of malaria transmission.

Working at the global, regional, and national levels, their highly-skilled team of economists, advocates, project managers, malariologists, and epidemiologists is unmatched in the field. With MEI support, countries around the world are actively working to eliminate malaria—a goal that nearly 30 countries will achieve by 2020.
